I finished grad school at the very end of 2020, and had hoped to maybe take a year off to focus on art and other hobbies, but the incessant gravitational pull of capitalism and the need to pay rent and buy groceries meant that instead I almost immediately started working as a post-doc. my job still allowed me a decent amount of time for art, but not as much as I'd hoped. I ended up producing notably fewer drawings than in 2020, though still a respectible number, including a handful that I especially like. this was also the year that I started really enjoying drawing characters based on weevils and mothmen, a theme that I'd continue in 2022 and beyond. I did Art Fight again this year but completed far fewer submissions than in 2020 on account of being super busy during the month it ran.
